(Honor Cover Appreciated)
Songwriter, banjo-piano-uke-guitar player, nurturer, seamstress, wearer of aprons, bearer of band-aids, maker of levity, staunch adversary of bullshit...

Multi-instrumentalist Rachael Davis is as renown for her expressive–and explosive–voice as she is for uniting the often desperate worlds of folk, blues, country, and pop.

Davis grew up not only in a family of musicians, but in an extended village of remarkable musicians and songwriters who nurtured and mentored her from the time she was born. Beginning by jingling ankle bells in perfect time on her months old feet in the middle of old timey jams and song circles, to contributing newly minted songs to Music Sundays, Rachael has always found her own unique part in the music. Her clear tone and uncanny memory for just about every song she’s ever heard came early, and has served her well throughout her career. As a child Davis took to harmony, piano, and ukulele, and at 8, joined the family band Lake Effect, performing regularly at folk festivals throughout her home state of Michigan and around the U.S. By age 12, and continuing each year since, Rachael has brought the Wheatland Music Festival to its knees closing the Sunday morning gospel set with her stunning solo acapella version of Amazing Grace.

“I was learning everything I could get my hands on and when I was 17, my father gave me his Bart Reiter banjo and taught me to play clawhammer style,” recalled Davis. “I like to joke that cursed me for life.”

At 20, already a professional and deeply moved by traditional mountain music, blues, and ballads, Davis composed and recorded her debut album “Minor League Deities,” then with that, and a heart full of promise Rachael Davis headed to Boston the day after the 911 attack. There she began performing in city subways and the streets of Cambridge. Within months she had made her mark on the Boston music scene winning the prestigious Boston Music Award for Best New Singer/Songwriter.

Davis often found sanctuary in the city’s basement level record stores as well as Boston’s premier acoustic music clubs where she made fans and friends of local stage veterans Vance Gilbert, Cheryl Wheeler, Josh Ritter, and indie rock’s parade float princess, Mary Lou Lord.

“In a way, they’re all still with me today,” says Davis, “I was part of a real music community there. My story was just like theirs. We all knew we were on a path to find something and for that moment, we were all in the same place.”

Because Davis has been swayed by so many different types of music, her style is difficult to file and will not languorously rest amid broader musical genres. “My slant on acoustic music can be explained by a mixed cassette tape that my father played during my early childhood while driving in our family’s Chevy Cavalier station wagon we nicknamed Iggy. On one side of the cassette was the soundtrack for the film The Big Chill. On the other was John Hartford’s “Areoplane”.” Today Davis describes her music as ‘Motown-Banjo’.

Davis has lent her voice to countless recordings for friends, film soundtracks, and even video games, but it is her intuitive and empathetic understanding of folk music—“the music of folks” as she calls it, and her original and thoughtful songwriting voice that has earned her fans around the U.S.

Recently she has collaborated in the critically acclaimed supergroup: The Sweetwater Warblers.

Comprised of Rachael Davis, Lindsay Lou, and May Erliwine, all three premiere Michigan-grown songbirds.

Rachael Davis now lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, critically acclaimed bassist Dominic John Davis with whom she performs as The Davis Duo. They have two children.

6535 First St, Lake Ann, MI Map

1000 Watt Prophets are a Michigan-based roots-funk powerhouse blending Americana, New Orleans groove, and soul-forward rock into a high-energy, deeply musical live experience. Featuring veteran players from the Midwest festival circuit, the band delivers songs that feel both road-worn and urgent, driven by deep pocket rhythms, rich harmonies, and a relentless commitment to the groove.

1000 Watt Prophets is a band that has always strived to rise above. Born out of a 20+ year friendship and musical alliance between Zak Bunce (vocals/guitar) and Denny Richards (bass/vocals), the group has worked its way up from duo shows at small venues to a full-band lineup playing festivals and concert series throughout their home base of Northwestern Michigan.

2025 became a banner year for the group. They began taking a more serious approach to songwriting, drummer Sean Reisig (drums/vocals) passed the tenured mark, ending what had been a rotating lineup, and the band added multi-instrumentalist Brett McDowell (fiddle/sax/keys/vocals) to bring some extra musical color to the mix.

The band has evolved into an Original Soul-Drenched Roots Rock band with a hint of Backwoods Fire. November 2025 marks the online release of two original songs, "Gravity" and "Paint the Moon," recorded in a secret Northern Michigan studio lair, with a full album currently in the works for 2026.

Fully charged and ready, 1000 Watt Prophets are gearing up to showcase themselves at farther-reaching and larger venues for 2026.

Since moving back to his hometown of Traverse City in 2007, John has played bass for and with a who’s-who of Northern Michigan musicians and bands including: The Bihlman Brothers, Levi Britton, David Chown, Drew Hale, Chris Michaels, Mike Moran, One Hot Robot, Miriam Pico, John Pomeroy, Elizabeth Rivers, Chris Sterr, Stolen Silver, Strobelite Honey, Sweetwater Blues Band, Clint Weaner, and The Wild Sullys, to name but a few. He has also performed regularly at Kensington Church, as a member of the Mashup Rock & Roll Musical theater troupe, the Old Town Playhouse, and with the West High School choral department.

After years of being a supporting player, in 2021 John made his first tentative steps as a solo performer, playing out under his own name and beginning work on what would become his first solo EP and full-length album.

When it comes to movers and shakers in the bluegrass world, Full Cord is a super-

After winning the prestigious 2022 Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition in

honor when the International Bluegrass Music Association named Full Cord its
“Momentum Award Band of the Year.”
While mandolinist Brian Oberlin notes the band’s music “is new and fresh to the
ears of seasoned bluegrass fans,” the bluegrass traditions in Full Cord have deep
roots.
The band’s debut album on Nashville’s Dark Shadow Recording, Cambium
dropped in 2023 and is still hitting the bluegrass charts.
Full Cord’s songwriting has reached a new “tipping point,” Manager Katie Kirchner suggests, enhanced by the group’s vast repertoire and robust experience in numerous band projects over the years.
And Oberlin insists the band is “just hitting its stride” – ready to follow in the
footsteps of fellow Michigan bluegrass icons Billy Strings and Greensky Bluegrass

All over the Midwest and around the country, the name Drew Hale is synonymous with soaring vocals, haunting melodies, and high energy live shows. A native Texan, Drew’s style of music pays homage to his roots in the red dirt and southern rock scenes of Texas and the Southwest, while his lyrics speak to his deep affection for the lifestyle and culture of his home in Northern Michigan. John Richard Paul got his start playing music at a relatively young age, beginning with saxophone and piano before moving over to the electric bass. In college he performed weekly with a handful of acts in and around the Lansing area, while also gracing stages regionally and nationally, opening for such acts as All American Rejects, The Format, and scores of other early-2000s indie acts.

Since 2016, he has been the bassist and backing vocalist for the Drew Hale Band, performing both locally and nationally, sharing the stage and festival lineups with the likes of Trace Adkins, Frankie Ballard, The Cadillac Three, Toby Keith, LoCash, Bret Michaels, Dwight Yoakam, and more.

In 2019, he began performing regionally as a duo, this time on acoustic guitar and vocals, with Rhett DuCouer, as Rhett & John.

After years of being a supporting player, in 2021 John made his first tentative steps as a solo performer, playing out under his own name and beginning work on what would become his first solo EP and full-length album.
